The French Stall
Just two days back, My family and I went to MacPherson to have dinner. The name of the place: The French Stall.
The place is set among HDB flats and has a ‘kopitiam’ kinda feel to it. Although the place lacks that ‘posh’ facade to it, it sure makes it up with the food that it serves.
They are located at 83 MacPherson lane and 544 Serangoon Road.
The setting of the place is humble and has a Frenchy feel to it; wooden chairs, warm lights, an extensive wine collection and of course, the cuisine. The servers are also very approachable making the experience more enjoyable.
Their signature dishes include:
French Onion Soup (soupe ala oignon)
Chicken liver pate
What I had was their special, Grilled Rib-eye(medium rare) with Lyonnaise potatoes
It was well seasoned but the mushroom cream sauce that was paired with the ribeye was a little overpowering; it masks the taste of the beef. Besides that, I had a Baked Alaska (Baked meringue drizzled with Grand Marnier with vanilla ice cream and soaked sponge fingers)
The plating of this place had a very rustic feel to it, in a way that it’s still very old school and sticking to its roots. Very 80s
My parents had the pork medallion and my brother had the sirloin steak. Pictures are below

Comments on the pork are: The cabbage has too much white pepper taste to it, even when eaten together with the pork. The pork was tender and juicy; not overcooked.
A few weeks before, parents and I went to little India. Had a very good time eating there, but I forgotten the name of the restaurant we went to.
We ordered an assortment of dishes and naans and boy, was it tasty?
I have to say, their tandoori chicken is really well done because of the umami flavours from the fire and also seasoning wise.
Below is the chicken tikka and the gobi manchurian(battered and fried cauliflower with a tangy, sweet-spicy sauce).

Overall was the dining experience was good and the staff were very very accommodating to us.
